Common questions

Do my friends need the app?

No. When you share a link, it opens a small part of Who Had What (an App Clip) on their iPhone. They tap their name and what they had, and their picks show up on your bill.

If a link doesn't open on an iPhone with the app, copy it, open Who Had What, and use You > Paste a bill link.

How are tax and tip split?

By how much each person had. If you had twice as much, you pay twice the tax and tip. It's worked out to the cent.

Do I need an account?

No. Your bills are saved on your iPhone. Only bills you share with a link go online, and those shared copies are deleted after 30 days.

Does Who Had What send or receive money?

No. It works out who owes whom, and you mark payments paid. If you add your Venmo, Cash App, PayPal or Zelle under You > How friends pay you, friends on a shared bill get a button to pay you in that app, with the amount filled in.

I bought Who Had What Pro but it's not showing

Open the Spending tab or You > Who Had What Pro and tap Restore purchases. Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple Account you bought it with.

How do I get a refund?

Purchases go through Apple. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.

Will my bills move to a new iPhone?

They're stored on your iPhone, so they move with an iPhone backup or Quick Start transfer. With Pro you can also export every bill as a spreadsheet from the Spending tab.
